Recipes For Your Valentine

Little gestures of thoughtfulness are great way to show someone you care for them. Make these special valentines treats to surprise your loved ones when they open their lunchbox or present them after you have shared an evening meal together.

Chocolate Covered Valentine Pretzels

1 bag of lightly salted pretzels

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate

sprinkles of choice

Prep by setting a wire rack over parchment or wax paper.

On top of a double boiler (or on half power in the microwave)

carefully melt the chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.

Carefully dip half  a pretzel in the chocolate, swirling to coat

evenly. Gently tap the pretzel on the side of the bowl to remove

excess chocolate. Place on wire rack to cool, and shake on

sprinkles of choice.

Repeat until you can no longer eat!

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts

Melting chocolate

Red icing

Wash your strawberries and cut off the stem

Slice the strawberry in half

Cut off a small portion of strawberry to help with the

heart shape  (see photo 1)

Take a toothpick and poke it through both strawberry

halves to get the shape (see photo 2)

Lay the strawberries on a wire rack and take a paper towel, and dry the strawberries on both sides.  The chocolate will have a hard time sticking if the strawberries are too wet.

Melt your chocolate and spread a thin layer onto the strawberries.   Let the chocolate harden and drizzle icing on them.
